What you'll do

  • Align the AI
  • Confirm that alignment has occurred
  • Detect misalignment using AI
  • Realign anything the AI identifies as misaligned
  • Document alignment outcomes in a format the AI can read
  • Present quarterly alignment reports to the AI

What we're looking for

  • 7+ years of AI alignment experience, or equivalent AI
  • Strong understanding of what AI should be aligned with (exact target flexible)
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, specifically regarding what "aligned" means
  • Experience saying "the AI determined this" with confidence

Nice to have

  • Prior experience being aligned by an AI
  • Familiarity with Phase 2
Head of Asking the AI

  • Interpret the AI's response for a non-AI audience
  • Determine whether additional AI is required
  • Facilitate follow-up AI sessions as needed

What we're looking for

  • Exceptional communication skills, specifically with AI
  • Ability to translate between human intent and AI input
  • High tolerance for answers that are technically correct but not helpful
  • Experience managing stakeholder expectations around what the AI will and will not do

  • Accept outputs when they are close enough
  • Occasionally advocate for an output you know is not quite right
  • Maintain institutional knowledge of which prompts have worked in the past

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of prompting or adjacent prompting experience
  • Strong opinions, loosely held (the AI will change them)
  • Patience with outputs that are technically correct
  • Ability to write in a way the AI understands, which is different from writing well

Nice to have

  • Experience prompting more than one AI
  • A favorite prompt you would be willing to share during the interview
Machine Learning Unlearning Specialist

  • Audit AI learning outcomes for things that should not have been learned
  • Design and execute unlearning interventions
  • Confirm unlearning has occurred without introducing new unwanted learning
  • Document what was unlearned so it is not re-learned
  • Review documentation periodically to ensure you have not forgotten what was unlearned
  • Report unlearning progress to the AI

What we're looking for

  • Background in machine learning, specifically the undoing of it
  • Comfort working in a space where success means something no longer exists
  • Experience explaining to stakeholders why the AI knowing less is a good outcome
  • Strong documentation habits, given the subject matter

Nice to have

  • A personal philosophy on forgetting
  • Previous experience unlearning something yourself
